THE PROBLEM OF PARTS OF SPEECH IN DARGIN

The paper concentrates on the problem of word classes in Dargwa (Nakh-Daghestanian), the language with rich agglutinative morphology and a number of productive derivation rules. The author analyses three different approaches to word classes based on morphology of word forms, their distribution and, finally, their ability to dominate different phrases. The result is a procedure of ascribing a syntactic class to words of different types including the forms that appeared as the result of a derivation.
