“ACTING” OR EMOTIONAL MIMICRY IN COMMUNICATION
ID: 0421200038\XXXX
Key words: emotional mimicry, emotional and semantic infection, affective empathy, suggestibility of language and speech, simulation, imitation
The concept of emotional mimicry, as an artificial, intentional creation and
realization of the cognitive scheme of socially directed expression of emotions,
is considered in a communicative aspect. The thesis that speech communication is
always associated with the pragmatic impact of its participants on each other is
confirmed by the analysis of suggestive laws of language. General and integral
signs of affective empathy, adjacent to the concept of emotional mimicry, and
emotional-semantic contamination of the addressee are pointed out. Because
emotional mimicry is social, its form and the level of suggestive effects can
vary on the conditional scale of compliance / non-compliance with the signs of
imitation. Categorical signs of successful imitation are highlighted in the
analysis of the concept of "living in a role" by K.S. Stanislavsky: 1) the
revival of external circumstances, 2) the rationalization, 3) the
emotionalization, 4) the creation of an internal image of the role, 5) the
embodiment. The use of these criteria allowed us to distinguish between the
concepts of simulation and imitation. It is shown that the process of getting
into the role is difficult in the absence of an inference from the actor about
the interpreted situation and / or the emotional state imitated by him: the
outgoing knowledge is understood as the emotional and semantic "clips" common to
the subject and object of imitation, the use of which actualizes a common /
similar life situation. It is indicated that the imitation has an ambivalent
nature. Special attention is paid to the constructive effect of emotional
mimicry on the basis of an analysis of the phenomenon of a polite smile and
etiquette speech genres.
