BRAIN AND LANGUAGE: THE LATERALIZATION APPROACH
ID:  0421200038\0031

Key words: neurolinguistics, brain organization, speech production, neuropsychology, lateralization

The article discusses one of the most ambiguous aspects of the general problem of the relationship between language and brain: lateralization of speech as a higher mental function, as well as the peculiarities of lateralization depending on gender and age. The authors follow the traditions of Russian psycholinguistics, dating back to the A.R. Luria’s theory of systemic and dynamic localization of higher mental functions. The authors pay special attention, firstly, to the history of the lateralization problem, and secondly, to the factors influencing the degree of lateralization, which include gender and age. The paper substantiates the position that the study of lateralization of speech function is necessary for solving fundamental problems of linguistics and psychology, such as the description of the structure and functioning of language, semiotic systems, communication processes, etc..

EVALUATIVE ATTITUDES IN A DRAMA COMMUNICATION
ID:  0421200038\0034

Key words: evaluation, Leonid Zorin, “A Roman Comedy”, narrative, subject plot

The paper deals with interpretation of evaluative attitudes of a dramatic subject plot “A Roman Comedy (Dion” by Leonid Zorin. Internal and external attitudes may be singled out, the former characterize the interrelations between the main heroes and the latter enable the audience and critics to work out their attitude to the narrative, its message and values. Internal attitudes in the play in question consist in contrasting the tyrant and his elite, on the one hand, and an honest artist and a slavish yes-man, on the other hand. The artist criticizes cowardly elite and unscrupulous courtiers, though his noble protest is always futile. External attitudes to the narrative are determined by a political situation in the state and by personal values of the interpreters. The position of a critical reviewer in this case differs from the position of the audience because a reviewer has no option to react to the satirical exposer of human vices just with an ironical smile.

One of the spheres of modern humanitarian practice, in which metadiscourse manifests itself with sufficient completeness, is the reader's comments, caused, in particular, by publications in large publications, primarily of high quality. The texts of the comments sometimes turn out to be brighter, more original than the texts that become objects of commenting. In the comments, as metadiscourse formations, the hermeneutic function is actively realized, and in them there is performativity both in the implicit and in the explicit version. Commentary is one of the most adequate forms of recreating metadiscourse space using a rich arsenal of tools and possibilities.
