IV. OPEN DISCUSSION

In the section of the journal "Open Discussion" the article "Adventures of individualization of scientific discourse?" by DSc in Philology, Professor G.G. Khazagerov is presented. The discussion was joined by DSc in Philology, Professor L.N. Sinelnikova, DSc in Philology, Professor S.I. Ivanova, senior lecturer E.V. Pogaday, DSc in Philology, Professor I.A. Sternin.
For the first time, the topic of “individualization of scientific discourse” was touched upon by the author of the article in 2010 in the Sociological Journal (No. 2) in the work “The meaninglessness of scientific discourse as an objective process”. In the scientific journal "The World of Linguistics and Communication: Electronic Scientific Journal" in the work "What is the meaning of individualization of scientific discourse?" G.G. Khazagerov continues to develop the previously mentioned ideas of individualization of scientific discourse.

THE BLACK SQUARE OF ACADEMIC COMMUNICATION: RELEVANCE, AIM, METHODS, UNIT OF ANALYSIS
ID:  0421200038\0085

Key words: academic communication, academic discourse, method, relevance, novelty, subject matter, unit of analysis

The article touches upon the problems associated with the requirements that an academic text must satisfy. In particular, questions are raised related to the metalanguage of academic research in terms of describing its main elements (relevance, purpose, methodology and unit of analysis). The spamming of the academic text, which is expressed in the rewriting of self-evident truths, the unjustified use of the terminological apparatus of “fashionable” paradigms, which is facilitated by the conjuncture, the pressure of the system and the standard, as well as the absence of reputation losses when issuing shallow publications, can be overcome if academia will regulate the research metalanguage. Academic communication should meet institutional requitements reflected in academic standards. In a communicative and pragmatic sense, the text of a scientific publication must comply with G. P. Grice’s principles of cooperation (quantity, quality, relevance and manner). Academic communication should take into account the genre features of the academic narrative (composition, theme, style). The combination of institutional, communicative & pragmatic and genre standards will help avoid meaninglessness and devaluation of academic communication.
