ID: 0421200038\XXXX

Key words: English literary language, borrowing, lexical units of Chinese origin, adstratum, source language, recipient language, intermediary language, donor language, codification

The article deals with the codification problem of a number of borrowed lexical units of Chinese origin in the system of English literary language. The number of borrowings from these deviations, which actually exist in various regional versions of the English language, exceeds the officially recorded amount of codified words. The paper provides the rationale for the codification of borrowed lexical units of this type.
