THE NAME OF ROSE IS THE LOVE OF BOOKS

Key words: the name of the rose, the library, the book manuscript, fire, the rivalry of monastic libraries, digital book, sensual reflection

  The article analyzes the novel of the famous Italian philosopher, theorist of culture, specialist in semiotics and medieval aesthetics, literary critic, writer and publicist Umberto Eco (1932-2016) “The Name of the Rose”. The authors define the main theme of this work as love for the book, for knowledge and consider that its central event is the fire destroying the library. The text includes the authors' reflections on the life of modern society, the crisis in the humanitarian field, the loss of the paper book of its attractive force. We also consider the reasons for the choice of U. Eco name for the novel, which remains incomprehensible and mysteriously magical to the very end. The article suggests a name for the rose.

GERMAN BORROWINGS IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE: GENESIS AND ACCUSTOMING

The article discusses German borrowings in Russian from the point of view of their genetic characteristics and accustoming. One can stress out two main groups of reasons for borrowing process: extralinguistic and intralingual. Extralinguistic reasons have always been associated with cultural, economic, social, political and other relations. Recently, they have been closely connected and deepened due to globalization trends. The author comes to the conclusion that nouns prevail among German borrowings. Verbs and adjectives are represented by only a small number. The author notes that borrowing from a language to language follows two paths: oral and written.

In the field of education, the language policy in the emergency situations terminology is associated with the introduction of State Educational Standards, the development of appropriate educational programs and textbooks. In the field of mass media, the language policy in the emergency situations terminology is associated with the activities of the Press Office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

THE FUNCTIONS OF NEOLOGISMS IN THE AMERICAN MASS MEDIA OF THE 21st CENTURY

The article focuses on the overview of the neology units’ functions in media texts of the 21st century American mass media. The following functions are discussed: nominative, stylistic with evaluative and expressive subfunctions, communicative, pragmatic, norm-forming, syntactical with contextual and rhematic varieties, temporal (coherent). Basic functions are nominative and stylistic ones, in accordance with which neologisms are divided into fixed neolexemes and neosememes and individual (occasional) units that are not widely used. In order to identify the functions of neologisms authors implement a
system-functional approach which is based on the analysis of the object as a system, an integral body of interrelated elements (neologisms) functioning within the framework of a specific organized structure – the American version of the modern English language system.

Verbal and nonverbal means mark the line components of verbal-tactile regulatives in English dialogue in different ways. On the one hand verbal means can be represented by a specific set of the most frequent lexical units. On the other hand it seems possible to use certain dialogue constructions (as frequency manifestation indicators of syntactic means) in the form of a set of functionally specialized units of verbal and tactile order.
